Rewards and gems
Reward contributions with gems, redeemable for household perks.
The rewards system lets household members earn gems for completing tasks and redeem them for perks the household defines. It is optional — skip it entirely if it does not suit your household. Children tend to engage most with it, but it works for any household member.
How gems work
Gems are a virtual currency earned by completing assigned tasks. Each task has a configurable gem value — set it when creating the task, or edit it later. When a member marks a task as done, the gems land in their wallet automatically. Gems do not expire.
Setting gems per task
When creating or editing a task, enter a gem value in the Gems field. Higher-effort tasks should have higher gem values to reflect the work involved. There is no fixed scale — set what feels fair for your household. The reward-strategist AI skill can suggest a gem scale based on your existing tasks and household members.
Member wallets
Each household member has their own gem wallet. Owners and adult members can view all wallets from Rewards → Wallets. The household owner can manually credit or debit a wallet — useful for one-off bonuses, corrections, or converting gems to cash allowance.
Creating a reward catalogue
Go to Rewards → Catalogue and add the perks members can redeem their gems for. These are household-specific — common examples include screen time, a small cash payout, choosing the weekend movie, or a trip to the shops. Set the gem cost for each reward.
Redeeming rewards
Members can browse the catalogue and submit a redemption request when they have enough gems. Requests appear in the household owner's notification tray for approval. Once approved, the gem cost is deducted from the member's wallet automatically.
Viewing earn history
Each wallet has a transaction history showing every gem credit and debit, the task or action it came from, and the date. Use this to resolve disputes about who earned what — the record is objective and timestamped.
Projecting wallet trajectories
The reward-strategist AI skill can project each member's wallet balance 4, 8, or 12 weeks out based on their current task completion rate — useful for setting realistic gem costs on rewards and for motivation conversations with kids.
