Meal planning (Plus)

Plan a week of dinners, auto-build the grocery list, and never plan twice.

Meal planning is part of Orbrey Plus. The planner shows a 7-day grid where you drag recipes from your household book onto each day. Once the week is set, one tap sends the missing ingredients directly to the shared grocery list.

Laying out the week

Open the meal planner from the main navigation. The current week is shown by default, but you can plan as far ahead as you like. Drag a recipe from the recipe panel on the right onto any day, or tap a day cell and search for a recipe by name or tag. You can plan breakfast, lunch, and dinner independently for each day.

Pantry diff — what you still need to buy

After laying out the week, tap See what's needed. Orbrey checks every ingredient across all planned recipes against your pantry stock and shows you only what you do not already have. Quantities are aggregated — if Monday's pasta and Wednesday's bake both need tinned tomatoes, they are combined into one line item.

Sending to the grocery list

Tap Add to grocery list to push the missing ingredients to the shared list. Items are added with the correct quantities and grouped by aisle. Anyone in the household can then pick up the shop — the list is already built.

Planning with AI

The /plan-week command (Orbrey AI plugin for Claude Code) generates a full 7-day meal plan from your recipe library, pantry stock, dietary preferences, and the week's calendar — and auto-syncs the grocery list, all in one step. You can also ask your connected AI assistant directly: “Plan dinners for next week — we have chicken and pasta to use up, and Mia doesn't eat fish.”

Clearing a slot or editing the plan

To remove a meal from a day, tap the recipe tile and select Remove. To swap a meal, drag a different recipe onto the slot. The grocery list is not automatically updated when you edit the plan — tap Add to grocery list again after making changes, or use the AI skill which handles the sync for you.

Marking meals as cooked

After cooking, tap Mark as cooked on the meal plan tile. Orbrey deducts the used ingredients from the pantry in the correct quantities and prompts you to rate the meal. Ratings improve future plan suggestions.
