The shared grocery list
Add items, divide aisles, and check off in real time.
The grocery list is shared and updates in real time across every member's device. Check something off in the supermarket and it disappears from everyone else's view immediately. Items are grouped by aisle so the run is efficient — no doubling back.
Adding items
Tap the + button to add an item. Type a name — Orbrey auto-suggests from your previous purchases and recipe ingredients. You can specify a quantity and unit (e.g. 2 × 500 ml oat milk) and assign the item to an aisle. Items you do not assign an aisle are grouped under “Uncategorised” until you move them.
Aisle grouping
Orbrey groups items by aisle automatically based on item names and past purchases. You can customise aisle assignments from Settings → Grocery → Aisles to match your local supermarket's layout. Once an item has been assigned to an aisle, future additions of the same item land in the correct aisle automatically.
Real-time sync across members
Any member of the household can add, check off, or delete items. Changes are reflected on all devices within seconds. If two people are shopping at the same time, they can split the list — each ticking off their section — without stepping on each other.
Auto-building from a meal plan
With Orbrey Plus, the meal planner can push the week's missing ingredients to the grocery list in one tap. Orbrey diffs the recipe ingredients against your current pantry stock and only adds what you actually need. If you are not using the pantry feature, all ingredients are added.
Using AI to tidy the list
The /grocery-tidy command (Orbrey AI plugin for Claude Code) deduplicates the list, consolidates quantities (e.g. two separate “milk” entries merge into one), and re-sorts items into aisle order. Useful after the list has grown organically across several sessions.
Clearing checked items
Once you return from the shops, tap Clear checked to remove all the ticked items at once. Checked items are not deleted until you clear them, so you can review the run before tidying up. Cleared items are added to your purchase history, which the AI tools use when suggesting quantities for future shops.
