Households, members and roles

Invite members, manage roles, and switch between multiple households.

A household is the shared space where everything lives — the calendar, recipes, grocery list, tasks, and rewards. Everyone you invite to a household can see and contribute to the same data in real time.

Roles

  • Owner — Billing, settings, member management, and household deletion. There is one owner per household.
  • Adult — Full read and write access across all household data. This is the default role when someone accepts an invite.
  • Child — Simplified view with age-appropriate defaults. Children can see their own tasks, earn gems, and view the grocery list, but cannot access billing or household settings.

Inviting members

Go to Settings → Household → Invite member and enter an email address or copy the invite link. The person you invite receives an email with a link to join. Until they accept, you will see them listed as Pending in the members list.

You can re-send or revoke a pending invite at any time from the same settings screen.

Changing a member's role

Owners can change any member's role from Settings → Household → Members. Click the member's name and select a new role. Role changes take effect immediately.

Switching between households

If you belong to more than one household — for example, a family home and a co-parenting setup — use the household switcher in the top-left of the app to move between them. Each household has entirely separate data; nothing is shared between them.

Creating a second household

Tap the household switcher, then Create new household. You become the owner of the new household. Use this for a genuinely separate living situation — a parents' place, a co-parenting arrangement, or a separate shared house.

Leaving a household

Go to Settings → Household → Leave household. If you are the owner and there are other members, you must transfer ownership before you can leave. If you are the only member, leaving will delete the household and all its data permanently.

Removing a member

Owners can remove any member from Settings → Household → Members. Removed members immediately lose access to all household data. Their past contributions (recipes, events, completed tasks) remain in the household.

Deleting a household

Only the household owner can delete a household. Go to Settings → Household → Danger zone → Delete household. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone — all recipes, events, tasks, grocery history, and rewards are deleted. Export any data you need before proceeding.
